ITAR / Export
A number of products we sell are controlled under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). ITAR-controlled items can be sold and shipped only to U.S. persons inside the United States.
What is ITAR
ITAR is a U.S. State Department regulation that governs the export of defense articles, including most high-performance image intensifier tubes (commonly anything classified as "MIL-SPEC" or above commercial-grade), certain laser aiming devices, and many night vision systems built around those components.
What this means for an order
- U.S. persons inside the U.S. — orders ship to U.S. addresses only. APO/FPO addresses are accepted for active-duty service members; we'll coordinate the paperwork.
- Non-U.S. persons — we cannot fulfill ITAR-controlled orders, even to a U.S. forwarding address. Any such order will be canceled and refunded.
- U.S. persons abroad — we cannot ship internationally, including to U.S. embassies, contractor addresses, or military bases outside the U.S. without a State Department license in place.
- Re-export is prohibited. By purchasing, you certify that you will not re-export the item or transfer it to a non-U.S. person without proper authorization.
Verification
Before shipping any ITAR-controlled product, Republic Night Vision verifies the buyer's U.S.-person status. This may include:
- Driver's license or state ID confirming U.S. residence
- For MIL/LE pricing or restricted high-power variants: agency credential or ID.me verification
This adds 1–5 business days to the order timeline for first-time buyers. Repeat buyers move faster after the first verification.
What is and isn't ITAR-controlled
Each ITAR-controlled product page displays the ITAR badge in the buy box. As a quick guide:
- Commonly controlled: L3Harris Unfilmed tubes, Elbit thin-film tubes above commercial grade, MAWL / NGAL / ATPIAL aiming lasers in high-power configurations, complete night vision devices built around controlled tubes
- Generally not controlled: commercial-grade NNVT tubes, housings without tubes, lens kits, mounts, helmets, accessories, IR illuminators in civilian-legal power classes
Civilian-legal power-class variants of restricted products are listed separately when available — look for the "Restricted Power" or civilian-equivalent listings.
Questions before ordering
If you're unsure whether a product or a configuration is exportable to your situation, ask us first. It's faster than placing an order that has to be canceled.
